Executive Summary: SINP 2nd Intake Window (March 2026)

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) officially opened its second 2026 intake window for capped sectors on March 2 at 9:30 a.m. EST. Demand is extraordinarily high, with quotas already maxing out.

  • Total Positions Available: 400 spots across three sectors.
  • Current Availability: The Accommodation/Food Services and Trucking quotas are already full. Only 40 spots remain for the Retail Trade sector.
  • Crucial Rule: Employers can only submit applications for candidates whose work permits will expire in six months or less.

Second Intake Window for Saskatchewan’s Nominee Program Opens With Instant Demand

Securing a provincial nomination in Saskatchewan's most competitive industries requires perfect timing. On March 2, 2026, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) opened its second intake window of the year for "capped sectors"—specifically Accommodation and Food Services, Retail Trade, and Trucking.

Because the province heavily restricts the number of applications accepted in these specific industries, the race to submit Job Approval Forms (JAFs) is fierce. Here is exactly how the quotas break down and what you need to know for the upcoming intake windows.

Get Your SINP Application Ready for the Next Intake

1. Intake 2 Breakdown: 400 Positions Available

For this second intake, the SINP raised the total limit to 400 positions (up from 300 in the first intake on January 13). However, spots vanished almost instantly.

The 6-Month Expiry Rule:
To prioritize urgent cases, the SINP mandates that during these capped sector intakes, employers are only permitted to submit applications for candidates whose current work permits will expire within six months or less.

2. The Official 2026 SINP Intake Schedule

If you missed the March 2 window, you must prepare for the next round. The province noted that each window remains open "for several days" or until the cap is met (which, as evidenced by this round, can happen on day one). There are four windows remaining in 2026:

  • Intake 1: January 13, 2026 (Closed)
  • Intake 2: March 2, 2026 (Currently Active/Filling)
  • Intake 3: May 4, 2026
  • Intake 4: July 6, 2026
  • Intake 5: September 7, 2026
  • Intake 6: November 2, 2026

Note: The specific number of positions allocated for Intakes 3 through 6 has not yet been published. Distributions may vary if a sector cap is reached early or if federal nomination quotas change.

3. Overall 2026 Allocations: Priority vs. Capped Sectors

For 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) allocated 4,761 nomination spaces to Saskatchewan. The province has divided this quota into three distinct tiers.

A. Capped Sectors (25% of Total Nominations)

The three sectors listed above share a combined 25% of the total provincial quota (roughly 1,190 spots for the year).

  • Accommodation & Food Services: 15% of 2026 total (714 spots). Represents 60% of each intake window.
  • Retail Trade: 5% of 2026 total (238 spots). Represents 20% of each intake window.
  • Trucking: 5% of 2026 total (238 spots). Represents 20% of each intake window.

B. Priority Sectors (50% Minimum Allocation)

If you work in a Priority Sector, you are in luck: there are no designated intake periods. Employers can submit applications for these roles at any time during the year. Priority sectors include:

  • Healthcare
  • Agriculture
  • Skilled Trades
  • Mining
  • Manufacturing
  • Energy
  • Technology

C. Other Sectors (25% Allocation)

Sectors not listed as "Capped" or "Priority" make up the remaining 25% and can also apply year-round. However, if demand in the Priority Sectors is exceptionally high, the province may shift nominations away from "Other Sectors" to fulfill priority needs.

4. How the Employer Process Works (JAL & JAF)

For job-offer streams under the SINP, the candidate cannot apply alone. The employer must drive the process.

Employers must first complete a Job Approval Form (JAF) to confirm the position meets provincial criteria. Once approved, the employer receives a Job Approval Letter (JAL). Only with a valid JAL can the foreign worker proceed with their SINP application. For capped sectors, if a JAF is submitted outside of the designated intake dates (like May 4 or July 6), it will not be processed and will be returned immediately.

Don't Miss the Next Intake Window

With positions filling up in less than 24 hours, your employer's Job Approval Form (JAF) must be flawless and ready to submit the moment the portal opens on May 4. Let our experts manage the SINP process for you and your employer.
