1. The 6 Priority Sectors for Claresholm in 2026

Claresholm utilizes a unique points-based scoring grid to select candidates. Crucially, the town awards higher points to individuals holding job offers in higher-priority sectors. (Health offers yield more points than Sales offers, for example).

Here are the 6 prioritized sectors for 2026, ranked from highest priority to lowest:

  1. Health
  2. Manufacturing and utilities
  3. Trades, transport and equipment operators (New addition for 2026)
  4. Education, law and social, community and government services
  5. Natural resources and agriculture
  6. Sales and service*
*Sales & Service Restrictions:
To prevent the pilot from being overwhelmed by retail and fast-food roles, Claresholm will issue a maximum of 6 allocations to the Sales and Service sector this year. Furthermore, any food-service jobs must be in "full-service" (sit-down) restaurants. Fast-food establishments, food trucks, and takeout-only businesses do not qualify.

3. How the Claresholm RCIP Works

Claresholm has a strict quota of 30 PR allocations for 2026. To manage this demand, the town issues three allocations per month. Intake periods run from the 1st of each month until the second last Tuesday of that month.

  1. Get a Job Offer: You must secure a full-time, non-seasonal job offer from a designated employer in the Claresholm boundary. The offered wage must meet or exceed the official Job Bank median wage for that occupation.
  2. Community Scoring: The employer submits your recommendation. You are then ranked on the Claresholm scoring grid based on your sector, NOC, language, and work experience.
  3. Selection: The highest-scoring candidates are selected at the end of the monthly intake period.
  4. Federal PR Application: Once you hold the community recommendation, you apply directly to IRCC for Permanent Residence.

4. Mandatory Federal RCIP Requirements

Even if you win the Claresholm community recommendation, you must pass the federal government's baseline eligibility requirements to get your PR visa:

  • Work Experience: You must have at least one year (1,560 hours) of related work experience within the past three years. (TEER 0/1 jobs require TEER 0-3 experience; TEER 2 jobs require TEER 1-4 experience; TEER 3/4 jobs require TEER 2-4 experience; TEER 5 jobs require experience in that exact 5-digit NOC).
  • Education: A Canadian high school diploma or a foreign equivalent with a valid Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
  • Language Proficiency: TEER 0/1 jobs require CLB 6. TEER 2/3 jobs require CLB 5. TEER 4/5 jobs require CLB 4.
  • Settlement Funds: You must prove you have enough money to settle in the community (starting at $10,507 CAD for a single applicant).
  • Intent to Reside: You must demonstrate a strong, genuine intention to live long-term in the Claresholm boundary.
