🗺️ Yukon Nominee Program 2026 282 Spots, New Priorities, and Intake Dates Announced

Canadian Immigration

The Yukon has officially joined British Columbia and Saskatchewan as the third Canadian jurisdiction to reveal its immigration roadmap for 2026. On January 12, the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) confirmed an allocation of 282 nomination spaces for the year, alongside a strategic shift toward rewarding local ties and critical healthcare roles.

With a high demand for skilled workers in the North, the 2026 YNP will be highly competitive. For employers and candidates, understanding the two-window intake system and the new points-based priority ranking is essential for success.

📅 2026 YNP Intake Windows: Mark Your Calendar

The Yukon operates an employer-driven system. Unlike some provinces, individuals cannot apply directly; a Yukon-based employer must submit an online Expression of Interest (EOI) on behalf of the worker. In 2026, these EOIs will only be accepted during two specific periods:

Intake PeriodDates
Intake Window #1January 19 – January 30, 2026
Intake Window #2July 6 – July 17, 2026

Note: Submissions made outside these dates will not be accepted. Employers who applied in 2025 but weren’t invited will receive additional points if they re-apply in 2026.

🔥 2026 Priority Categories: Who Gets Invited?

Because the 282-spot quota is significantly lower than 2024 levels, the YNP is using a “quality over quantity” approach. High priority (and extra points) will be given to:

  1. Regulated Healthcare Professionals: To address critical staffing gaps in the territory’s medical sector.

  2. Rural Employers: Businesses operating outside of Whitehorse to ensure economic growth is distributed across the territory.

  3. Candidates with Local Ties:

    • Those who have lived and worked in the Yukon for at least one year.

    • Graduates of Yukon University.

    • Francophone (French-speaking) candidates.

  4. Legacy Applicants: Individuals who received a Temporary Measure Letter of Support in 2024 or 2025. (These candidates are exempt from the EOI process and will be contacted directly).

📉 Allocation Analysis: The “New Normal”

While the 282 spots for 2026 represent a stability compared to the late-2025 levels, the territory is still operating with 34% fewer spots than it had in 2024 (430 spots).

Despite the federal government raising the national PNP admission target to 91,500 in the latest Levels Plan, the Yukon’s initial quota remains conservative. However, history shows that the territory often seeks—and receives—top-ups from the federal government mid-year, as seen in August 2025.

🛡️ What Should You Do Now?

If you are a worker in the Yukon or an employer looking to hire, you have less than a week before the first window opens.

  • Employers: Ensure your recruitment documentation is ready and your job offer meets the median wage requirements.

  • Workers: Confirm your language results are valid and your education has been assessed (ECA).
